Upgrade Quicken to the Latest Version

A. Ensure that your current version of Quicken is up to date

  • Open Quicken
  • Go to Help > Check for Updates

B. Create Quicken data file backup

4 Simple Methods to Upgrade Quicken to the Latest Version

Method 1 – Validate & Repair Quicken Data File

It’s good to validate the file before upgrading Quicken because if there are some data integrity issues going on you’ll be aware of it. To do the validation & repair:

  • Go to the File menu
  • Click on File Operations > Validate and Repair…
  • Make a check on Validate File and click OK
  • The process may take some time to validate the Quicken data, depending on your file size
  • Then close the DATA_LOG notepad.

Method 2 – Update the Accounts

Before upgradation process, please process the one step update for all the accounts. To do it:

  • Go to the Tools menu
  • Click on One Step Update…
  • If asked, enter your bank password or click on Update Now

Method 3: Create Quicken Backup Again

It’s good to create a backup again after validating the data file and updating the accounts in Quicken. To create a backup, follow the same process:

  • Go to the File menu
  • Click on Backup and Restore > Backup Quicken File…
  • Click on Back up Now

Method 4: Download and Install New Quicken Version
