5 Simple Methods to Transfer Quicken to Another Computer

Method 1: Download and Install Quicken to New Computer

Method 2: Plugin the External Drive

  • Now you can plugin the external drive where you’ve created a backup from old computer
  • Go back to Quicken software

Method 3: Restore the Backup File

  • As you open Quicken software
  • Click on the File menu > Restore from Backup File…
  • Choose Restore from your backup and click Browse…
  • Drive your mouse to the external drive location and select the backup file
  • Then click Open
  • Click Restore File

Method 4: Choose a Location to Save the Restored File

  • Click on Browse
  • Save the Restored file to C:\Users\[your user]\Documents\Quicken. It’s a recommended location.
  • Click Save and then Restore Backup

Method 5: Login to your Quicken Account

  • Enter your Quicken ID and Password
  • Click Sign In
  • Next screen prompt you to enter the 6-digit code. It will be sent on your registered email or mobile number.
  • Enter the code and click Sign In
  • It may also ask you to Sync Quicken data to Mobile, you can choose your preferred option and click Next
  • Then click Done

What, if I create a backup on an online platform such as Dropbox, One Drive, etc.?

There is nothing different you need to create a backup on the cloud platform tool that you’re using. Then on your new computer(where you want to migrate Quicken) login to the cloud platform or download their respective app on your computer.
